00:00 / 06:16
This Album of songs is a special memorial to Erby Burnfield’s childhood emotional support animal Socks. The song longest Friend was written as an acceptance that loss is coming. Erby wrote this song the sleepless night after discovering Sock’s had a terminal illness and was given 2 weeks left to live. The song mentions the different hardships and obstacles that Erby experienced and overcame with the help of their longest friend. This song is a recognition that no matter what Erby was going through, they never faced it alone because Socks was always right beside them. Through all the tears, achievements, panic attacks, parent’s divorce, and mental illness, Socks was always right there beside them. This song is a reminder to keep going despite experiencing great loss. Erby Burnfield describes Longest Friend as the big cry song. They make an effort to perform this song regularly at events because they believe in facing and overcoming the heavy and uncomfortable feelings and in return keep Sock’s memory alive.

When Erby was dealing with their parent’s divorce in 2021 they collected recordings of the sounds of rain on their phone whenever they were out alone. they were so terrified of storms and the uncertainty of them. The sounds and the lights; they reminded Erby of how out of control they felt within their life at the time. They decided to take the time to find beauty in those recordings. Despite being afraid and alone there was still something to be admired about the rain. This was their way to get to know the storm and accept it instead of fighting against it. Erby’s parents were living in a storm of their own. Eventually everything settles down just like a rainbow after the rain.
